Fencepost

We built Fencepost because we needed it ourselves.

Our team was running 8 AI agents across three projects. They all shared the same API keys. When one agent went rogue at 3am, we had to kill everything. There had to be a better way.

The origin story

In early 2026, our team at ChimeStream was building AI-powered tools for startups. We had agents for research, content generation, data processing, and customer support. Every agent used the same OpenAI API key, the same Stripe key, the same everything.

Then our content agent started making API calls it shouldn't have been making. At 3am. On a Saturday. The only option was to revoke the shared API key — which killed all 8 agents simultaneously. Our production pipeline went down for 4 hours.

We looked for a solution. Everything we found was built for enterprises — Aembit wanted a demo call, Entro required a sales conversation, Descope's pricing was unpredictable. Nobody had a simple, self-serve tool for startups.

So we built Fencepost. A dashboard where every AI agent gets its own identity, its own scoped API key, and its own kill switch. Setup takes 18 minutes, not 18 meetings.

Our mission

“Give every AI agent its own identity — and its own boundaries.”

Self-serve, not sales-serve

No demo calls. No enterprise contracts. npm install and you're live. Built for 5-person startups, not 5,000-person enterprises.

Surgical, not nuclear

Revoke one agent without touching the rest. The fence metaphor is literal — boundaries that protect without blocking everything.

Transparent pricing

Pay per agent count. Not per MAU, not per M2M token, not per API call. You know your bill before you get it.
